Rush Kappa Sigma

Welcome to the Xi-Delta Chapter of Kappa Sigma at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

On behalf of our brothers, it is my honor to welcome you to our chapter. Since our founding, Xi-Delta has been committed to building men of character, men who lead in the classroom, serve their community, and hold themselves to the highest standard in everything they do.

Kappa Sigma is built on four pillars: Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. At Xi-Delta, these are not just words we recite, they are the framework for how we operate every day. Our brothers hold leadership positions across campus, give back to the San Antonio community through service and philanthropy, and push one another to excel academically and professionally. Through our support of the Military Heroes Campaign, Kappa Sigma's national philanthropy, we are proud to give back to the veterans and service members who have given so much for us.

But what truly sets this chapter apart is our brotherhood. The bonds formed here extend far beyond four years at UTSA. Our alumni network spans industries and generations, and the friendships built in this chapter last a lifetime. When you join Kappa Sigma, you are not joining for your college years, you are joining for lifelong adventure.

To prospective members: I encourage you to come meet our brothers and see for yourself what makes Xi-Delta different. Greek life is what you make of it, and here, you will find men who will challenge you, support you, and stand beside you long after graduation.

To our alumni and friends of the chapter: thank you for your continued support. This chapter stands on the foundation you built, and we are committed to carrying that legacy forward.

To Parents and Prospective Members,

As someone who has been a member of Kappa Sigma for nearly 25 years, I have had the opportunity to experience Greek life from just about every perspective. Today, I have the privilege of serving as the District Grand Master for South Texas, where I oversee the operations of five chapters from San Antonio down to Corpus Christi and McAllen, Texas. Additionally, I serve as the direct Alumnus Advisor for the Kappa Sigma Chapter at UTSA, and President of the Xi-Delta Alumni Association. Those roles have given me an even greater appreciation for what a strong Greek organization can mean to a college student and to their family.

Choosing to join a Greek organization is a significant decision. It should be about much more than social events or having a group of friends on campus. The right organization can provide a sense of belonging, lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, professional connections, community service, academic support, mentorship, and accountability. More importantly, it can challenge young men to become better students, better leaders, better brothers, and ultimately better men.

At Kappa Sigma, we work to provide an experience that complements a student's education rather than distracts from it. Our members are encouraged to pursue academic excellence, develop leadership skills, serve their community, build professional relationships, participate in meaningful traditions, and hold one another accountable. Through our undergraduate chapter and alumni network, our goal is to create opportunities that continue well beyond a student's college years.

For parents, I understand that sending your son to college comes with excitement, expectations, and sometimes concerns. You want to know that the people surrounding him will challenge him, support him, and look out for his best interests. As an advisor and alumnus, I take that responsibility seriously not only as a leader in this organization, but a parent of a college-aged son. Our organization has standards, expectations, and a responsibility to develop men who are prepared for life after college.

For prospective members, I would encourage you to ask questions and do your research. Talk to other men's organizations. Talk to our members. Talk to our alumni. Ask about our expectations, our values, our academic standards, our leadership opportunities, our service, and what we can offer you beyond your college years. You should never choose an organization simply because it looks like fun. Choose one that will help you become the person you want to be.

After nearly 25 years, I can tell you that joining a fraternity is one decision that can extend far beyond your college experience. The friendships, relationships, lessons, opportunities, and responsibility you gain can stay with you for the rest of your life.

The organization you choose matters. The people you surround yourself with matter. And the man you become matters most.
